E-bikes are a great choice for seniors

E-bikes are a great option for seniors to get around for a number of reasons. Today we would like to introduce you to some of them.

Travelling on an e-bike is comfortable

E-bikes are great because they allow you to do so much more with your bike. If you weren't used to doing errands on a bike and found it too much effort, an electric bike will change your mind and you'll soon be happy to do them. The motor on the bike makes travelling long distances on a bike much easier. Carrying groceries and other equipment is also a breeze because you don't have to worry about the extra load tiring you out. You can load up some duffle bags and baskets to keep your belongings organised and safe.

E-bikes can be a great incentive to do more exercise

Riding an e-bike is much easier for people who don't want to overexert themselves on a ride. If you want to get a workout in, feel free to pedal at first, and if you get tired on the way home, you can use the pedals to assist you in getting back home. If you really want to take it easy, turn the bike up to maximum throttle and let the bike do all the work as you cruise back.

Being able to control the boost from the motor also allows you to set the desired level of pedalling so that you don't put too much strain on your joints and hips. Get some exercise, but use enough boost so you don't put too much weight on the pedals or pressure on your legs.

An e-bike stops you worrying about being too tired to cycle, so it can motivate you to get more exercise. It's so good for you that some people even believe that cycling can ease the symptoms of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

Choosing an electric bike for seniors

In general, there are three main things you should look for when choosing an e-bike, especially for recreational use.

1、Frame

The best bikes for seniors are those with open frames.

Getting on and off the bike can become a problem as you age. When we talk about e-bikes, you still need to consider almost the same structure as a regular bike - except that it has to accommodate the battery, engine and additional controls. For seniors, we recommend an e-bike with a tilting frame. Ideally, a bike with a low-span frame is easier to get on and off. This type of frame also brings extra safety because you can put your feet on the ground if the ride is too challenging, which is important, especially if you're using the engine.

2. Motors

Don't overdo it by choosing a motor that is too powerful for what you don't need.

We recommend an e-bike with a 250-watt motor that will give you good pedal assist and full-speed cruising without overwhelming you. If you're not commuting to and from work and need to get somewhere quickly - we don't recommend a 500W and above bike for seniors for light recreational riding as it's more than you need and the extra speed and torque that comes with these motors requires more experience on the part of the rider.

3. Throttle and pedal assist features

Fully featured e-bikes give you the option to choose how hard or not to push during your ride.

An e-bike is really a good option for older people as it allows you to ride much further than before. Aside from that, you can also choose how much effort you are willing to put in or not depending on how much help you want from the motor during the ride. You can start by pedalling yourself for exercise and then start the motor and let it help you get home. This has great benefits as it obviously improves your mobility and even allows you to go on longer trips that you would normally do in a car, and if you're too tired to pedal, let the motor do all the work.

Electric bikes are great because you always have a motor to fall back on. With it, you can always push yourself to go further, see more things, and do more with your bike.

Safety Tips.

When you ride an e-bike, you should be aware of safety issues.

1. Safety equipment - always wear a helmet when riding

As you get older and weaker, wearing a helmet is essential. If you choose to ride an e-bike, make sure you choose a speed you feel comfortable with.

Other safety equipment we recommend is wrist guards and a reflective jacket or an easily identifiable brightly coloured jacket.

2. familiarise yourself with the bike, especially if you have balance issues.

Because e-bikes are so fast, it's important to familiarise yourself with the bike first. If you're used to riding a regular bike, you'll be surprised at how much power the motor can actually bring to the table - it's a cool, weird feeling at first when you start accelerating.

E-bike accidents can happen, and they're usually just due to improper knowledge of how to use the product. So don't rush into it and think you can do it right away. Take your time and work it out, especially if you haven't ridden a regular bike in a long time.

Study the features and make sure you understand how to brake properly, where the brakes are, how to use the throttle, and understand the different power levels that come with pedal assist. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the kind of assistance you will receive. It is important to understand how to use the product properly and familiarise yourself with it. You can start by test riding your bike in an empty and familiar area to avoid accidents. Don't get discouraged though. Riding an e-bike is as ...... well as easy as riding a bike! It just takes getting used to some new controls and extra power.

So what are you waiting for? Get a great 250W electric stride bike, like the Bodywel A26, which has a stride frame that makes it easy to ride on! Not only that, but this bike has a very comfortable seat and riding position.
